A 45-year-old man died after he was shot while driving through Altadena on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
The deadly shooting took place just before 1 p.m. while the victim was driving along Canyada Avenue, south of Figueroa Drive, Lt. Scott Hoglund of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
Multiple rounds were fired at his vehicle, authorities said. He then drove about a block and a half north before stopping.
A resident who saw him suffering from gunshot wounds tried to treat him while waiting for law enforcement to arrive, according to the lieutenant.
Paramedics took the wounded man to a hospital, but he could not be saved, officials said.
No suspect description or motive was available. It was not clear whether the shooter was in another vehicle or on foot.
Several people were questioned in connection with the shooting, but no arrests were made and no suspects had been identified, Hoglund said.
Detectives had identified a "house of interest," where they were focusing their investigation Sunday night. Further details were not available.
