Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was shot dead on a residential street in Lynwood Tuesday afternoon.

The gunfire was reported at about 1:20 p.m. on the 11100 block of Duncan Avenue, near Will Rogers Elementary School, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. Deputies previously said the shooting occurred around 1:45 p.m.

The victim was targeted while sitting inside a vehicle. He sustained multiple wounds and died at the scene, according to sheriff’s Lt. Robert Westphal.

Detectives are still investigating, but they believe another vehicle was involved, Westphal said.

The slain man wasn’t immediately identified, but officials said he was 32 years old.

Video from the scene showed deputies searching for evidence around a white SUV parked on the curb.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, and so far, deputies have “no suspect information,” Westphal said.

Detectives have spoken to some witnesses but are looking for others, the lieutenant added.

Tuesday’s killing is the second homicide in Lynwood in the past six months, according to crime data maintained by the Los Angeles Times.

It follows an incident last September in which an off-duty security guard opened fire on three men he suspected were breaking into his car, killing one of them.
