Man Fatally Shot in Dispute Between Neighbors in Temple City; 1 Detained

An argument between neighbors ended in a fatal shooting in Temple City Monday, investigators said.

The gunfire was reported shortly after 6 p.m. on the 9400 block of Workman Avenue, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

The victim, a man in his mid-20s, was found in a front yard with a gunshot wound to his upper torso, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Westphal.

Although officials initially said the man died at the scene, Westphal later said was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.

No other identifying information on the victim was immediately available.

A man in his mid-40s was detained as a suspect and was being questioned Monday night, the lieutenant said, adding that no other suspects were outstanding.

A firearm was recovered at the scene, Westphal said.

The location is in a residential area, just a block south of the commercial strip of Las Tunas Drive.
