Police were searching for an unknown number of people Sunday after a man was injured in a shooting during a fight in Westwood located in a typically busy area known for its bars, restaurants and a movie theater.

The 26-year-old man was shot once during a fight near a parking lot in the 1000 block of Broxton Avenue (map) around 2 a.m., officials said.

A preliminary investigation was underway Sunday morning.

“What we know now is that there was a fight between some males and the victim got knocked out, and as soon as he got up he just felt a sharp pain in his chest and heard a shot,” Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Romero Ruezga said.

The man was transported to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and said to be in stable condition.

The only description of the shooter or shooters was that they were light colored, police said.
