Man Shot to Death in Compton

A man died following a shooting in Compton on Saturday night, authorities said.

The deadly attack took place just after 10 p.m. in the 600 block of South Butler Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement. Officials previously described the shooting scene as the 700 block of Harris Avenue, around the corner.

Deputies responding to reports of a shooting found the victim lying wounded in the street, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, officials said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

No further details were available as the investigation continued into the early-morning hours Sunday.
