An investigation was underway in Moreno Valley after a man and woman were found dead inside a home with apparent gunshot wounds, police said Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to the 11000 block of Miners Trail to an assault with a deadly call about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Moreno Valley Police Department.

When nobody inside the home answered the door, police — fearing someone inside may have been injured — forced their way inside, the release stated.

Once in the home, they discovered the bodies of a male and female resident. Both appeared to have gunshot wounds, according to police.

Their identities have not been released.

Moreno Valley police detectives and investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit then took over the investigation.

According to the release, investigators believe that the possible shooting is an isolated incident of domestic violence. Authorities were not searching for any outstanding suspects.

Anyone with information regarding the two deaths has been asked to contact Investigator Bishop of the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777, or Moreno Valley police Detective Marcuse at 951-486-6700.
