Metro Blue Line service was temporarily suspended after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a train on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Long Beach Avenue, in the Central-Alameda area of South L.A., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The pedestrian, whose gender and age were not known, was found deceased under the train, according to an LAFD alert.
It was not clear what led up to the fatal collision.
Blue Line service was halted between Washington Boulevard and Vernon Avenue while crews recovered the body, authorities said. Bus shuttles have been established to get passengers around the scene.
By 7:50 a.m., the northbound track was operating again, but there were major delays on the line, according to Metro.
Three hours later, Metro tweeted that it was resuming normal service of the line, but that delays should be expected through 11:30 a.m.
