Police initially responded to a residence on the 600 block of East Old Second Street in San Jacinto (map) on Monday after the wife of 35-year-old John Ecker said she was unable to get in contact with her husband, sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

Investigators initially believed that Ecker had been the victim of foul play following unsuccessful attempts to contact and locate the man a number of times, the Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release Monday.

His vehicle was also missing, according to authorities.

Ecker was eventually found in Coachella on Tuesday around 5:45 a.m. at a convenience store on the 45000 block of Dillon Road (map), the release said.

Foul play was no longer suspected, according to authorities.
