A mother has been arrested on suspicion of killing her 9-month-old girl at a South L.A. home, authorities said Saturday.

The baby was found after a 911 caller reported Friday around 3 p.m. that a woman was walking down a street screaming that she had killed her child, according to Officer Liliana Preciado, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police then responded to the 2000 block of West 64th Street, in the Chesterfield Square neighborhood, and found the infant. She was  identified as Savannah Coleman, of Los Angeles, Lt. Ryan Hays of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Saturday.

The unidentified mother was questioned and subsequently arrested, LAPD Officer Matthew Ludwig confirmed Saturday.

It was not known how the child died, and additional information was not provided.

The LAPD’s abused child unit was investigating, Preciado said.
