Authorities are looking for a driver who left the scene after colliding with an SUV in a Sunday morning crash that killed one person and seriously injured four others in the San Fernando Valley’s North Hills neighborhood.

Francisco Hernandez Rivas, 48, of North Hills was killed in the collision, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Lt. Larry Dietz said.

A white Lexus sedan and a blue SUV collided at the intersection of Haskell Avenue near Parthenia Street at around 5:40 a.m., according to Los Angeles police.

Video from the scene shows the SUV upside down near a one-story structure as the Lexus sits heavily damaged near the curb and a broken fence.

The Lexus had four occupants, including a female driver who exited the vehicle and walked away, Los Angeles police told KTLA. Hernandez Rivas, who was behind wheel of the SUV, died at the scene, according to LAPD. There was one other occupant in that vehicle, police said.

The sedan had multiple empty beer cans inside, leading authorities to believe that alcohol might have played a role in the incident.

A pickup truck parked just a few yards away appeared to have sustained damage to its hood, but officials said nobody was inside it at the time of the crash.

A total of four people were taken to the hospital in “at least serious condition,” the Fire Department said. Two of them were in critical condition, LAPD later told KTLA.

Up to $50,000 in reward is available to community members who come forward with information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
