NEWPORT BEACH (KTLA) — A Costa Mesa man has been arrested on charges of having inappropriate sexual relationships with young boys that spanned more than a decade.

Christopher Bryan McKenzie, 48, was booked into an Orange County jail on Friday on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

McKenzie, a pool cleaner who works across Orange County, is accused of sexually abusing at least two male victims between the ages of eight and 16 over a period of many years.

He reportedly began his relationship with one of his victims in the late 1990s and continued to 2005.

The second victim was reportedly abused from 2005 to 2007, the same year he joined Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa as a volunteer Sunday school teacher.

Newport Beach police said the two victims, both of whom are now adults, contacted police last week, a news release stated.

Investigators do not believe he had any victims in the congregation.

McKenzie was booked into Newport Beach Police Department Jail and transported to Orange County Jail without incident.  He is due in court next week.

Police believe there may be additional victims.  Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (949) 644-3776 or (949) 644-3772.
