Los Angeles Police Department and local officials are calling for a ceasefire amid a concerning uptick in South L.A. gang violence.

Authorities on Friday announced that there has been more gun violence in the area in the first weeks of 2021 than last year, and the coronavirus pandemic is partially to blame.
