The shooting occurred just after 4 p.m. at the Tequila Ranch liquor store in the 8000 block of Summerset Boulevard, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

According to investigators, three male Hispanics drove up and parked behind the liquor store. While two of them went inside, a third stayed in the vehicle.

Once inside the store, the two suspects started drinking beer and taking items, according to LASD Lt. Dave Coleman.

When the store clerk confronted the men, a fight broke out, and a bystander jumped in to help, Coleman said.

It was at that point, Coleman said, that the person who had been waiting in the car rushed into the store and opened fire.

The bystander was pronounced dead at the scene. The store clerk was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the release stated.

No other information about the victims was released.

The suspects were described as three male Hispanics between 17 to 20 years old.

"The shooter suspect is described as a male Hispanic ... with a black hoodie and possibly a tattoo on his left cheek," Coleman said.

The suspects drove off in a white, compact, four-door sedan with tinted windows, witnesses told KTLA.

Investigators said they would be looking through surveillance video from multiple cameras in the area in hopes of identifying the three suspects.
