An attacker remains at large after a suspected gang-related shooting incident at a house party in Upland left one dead and three hurt early Sunday, officials said. It happened just after midnight at a residence in the 1500 block of Shelley Avenue, where an uninvited group pulled up in a four-door gray sedan and became involved in a physical fight with some people at the party, Upland police told KTLA. The get-together started as an afternoon baby shower and continued late into the night, according to the agency. At some point, a male individual pulled out a gun and fired several shots, police said. An individual in the sedan suffered a fatal gunshot wound and another was struck several times, police said. The latter was undergoing surgery on Sunday morning, Lt. Rob Steenerson told KTLA. A third victim, also an occupant of the vehicle, was shot once, police said. A fourth person was struck in the head with a “blunt object,” Steenerson said. A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, described seeing rocks and bricks thrown before hearing shots fired. The sedan headed south following the gunfire and ended up on the property of a nearby school, according to authorities. The vehicle remained at the scene as of 8 a.m. Authorities, who believe the shooting might have been gang-related, were still canvassing the neighborhood Sunday morning. In a 7:47 a.m. tweet, police Chief Darren Goodman urged the public to avoid the 1500 block of Shelley Avenue as the investigation continued. Officials provided no further details.
