Two men were wounded after an attacker opened fire with a shotgun in downtown Los Angeles late Friday, police said.

The shooting was reported just before 8:30 p.m. at Temple and Figueroa streets, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jeff Lee said.

Both victims were initially hospitalized in critical condition, but later upgraded to stable condition, police said. They were described as a 42-year-old man and a 52-year-old man.

A detailed suspect description was not available as the investigation remained in its early stages.

Video from the scene showed heavily armed police, as well as a K-9, gathered at the scene.
