A San Gabriel Valley couple expecting their first baby announced the pregnancy in a horror movie-like video that recently went viral on YouTube.

Judy and Gavin Holt wanted to do something different for the announcement, and ultimately decided on the unusual format because they both love horror films, the couple explained to KTLA.

“From there, within like, an hour, I had this huge laundry list of ideas,” Gavin Holt recalled.

They shot the video in their San Dimas home, complete with their cat as one of the main characters. It featured scary imagery, including blood-stained mirrors and ghost encounters, along with creepy music.

The Holts — who are both wedding photographers — spent roughly 40 hours capturing the special milestone.

They said the video has been like therapy for them, as the couple previously suffered two miscarriages.

“I guess the message I want to send out is … have hope, keep trying, chin up, good things are going to come your way,” Judy Holt told KTLA.

While the couple does not know the sex of their child yet, they said they’re already working on a sequel that will include the baby.

The first video, which was initially only supposed to be for family members, had garnered nearly 880,000 views on YouTube as of Thursday night.
