LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Former Los Angeles Laker Shaquille O’Neal is hosting a SHAQtacular event at the Boys & Girls Club of Venice Monday.

The former All-Star has arranged for nearly 300 of the Club’s kids to experience a carnival in the heart of their own community.

“I started SHAQtacular many years ago because all kids deserve amazing memories,” said the four-time NBA champion.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Venice has an extraordinary history of supporting youth, which makes it a perfect site for this year’s SHAQtacular.”

The Los Angeles Lakers organization will retire the Shaq’s #34 jersey on April 2nd when the team hosts the Dallas Mavericks at STAPLES Center.

O’Neal will join Jamaal Wilkes, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, and Jerry West on the STAPLES Center rafters.
