Police were searching Friday for two men caught on surveillance video stealing a Mercedes and several other items from a home in Pomona’s Phillips Ranch community shortly before Christmas, officials said.

The incident occurred Tuesday around 2:30 a.m., Pomona Police Department Sgt. Brian Hagert said. An incident address was not provided.

Two men who appeared to be in their late 20s opened an unlocked car door in the home’s driveway and used a garage-door opener inside the vehicle to enter the residence, Hagert said.

Once inside, they took shoes, tools, DMV records and a jacket before taking off in the resident’s black four-door Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

A woman who claimed to live at the home posted about the incident on Facebook, stating that a pair of UGG boots, Vans shoes, a Craftsman tool box and power drill were stolen.

The woman, Gloria Luong, also posted several photos of the incident.

She asked that anyone with information about the incident call the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085.

A spike in burglaries had been reported in the area in recent months, but were not believed to be related to Tuesday’s incident, Hagert said.
