Glendale police distributed dramatic surveillance video Tuesday that showed an armed, masked man’s apparent robbery attempt at a restaurant.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. Jan. 3 at Barragan’s Mexican restaurant, at 814 S. Central Ave.

A man in a hooded sweatshirt can be seen climbing over a concrete wall between the restaurant’s rear entrance and an office building next door.

Wearing a black-and-white mask, he enters the kitchen and “forcefully pushes” two employees forward while holding a handgun, according to a news release from the Glendale Police Department.

When another employee sees what is happening, he runs out the back door, and the armed man chases him.

The assailant looks in the direction the employee escapes — down the driveway — but walks instead back toward the wall he initially hopped over, the video shows.

He left through the rear parking lot of the restaurant, getting away with nothing from the restaurant, according to police. No one was injured.

Nonetheless, police want to find the man.

He was described as a man of unknown race, possibly 5 foot 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, and wearing a black hoodie, black-and-white colored facemask and carrying a black handgun.
