A 25-year-old man pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges Wednesday for allegedly crashing his truck into the bedroom of a Lancaster home killing a 71-year-old woman.

Aaron Daniel Benson was charged with one count each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury within 10 years of another DUI offense, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Benson had a DUI conviction in 2011, the complaint alleges.

Prosecutors allege Benson was drunk when he hit several parked cars and then slammed into a home on West Avenue J-12.

The truck smashed through the house and into Patricia Ann Holmes’ bedroom.

When rescue crews arrived they found Holmes in her bed with the truck on top of her, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Benson was being held on $1 million bail and was due back in court on April 29.

If convicted as charged, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years to life in state prison.
