A taxi driver who was fatally shot during a suspected robbery in the El Sereno area was a father of four and grandfather, his eldest son told KTLA on Monday.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 4300 block of Worth Street around 9:35 p.m. Sunday, the Los Angeles Police Department stated in a news release. The location bordered the Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles communities.
A victim suffering from gunshot wounds was on the roadway when police arrived, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Police believe the man, identified as 43-year-old Antonio Paz Gonzalez, was killed during a robbery.
The grandfather and father of four was greatly loved, his son Fernando Paz said on Monday.
“I definitely will miss him and all his wisdom -- the things he taught me in life,” Fernando Paz said.
