Two men are in custody after a woman was robbed Friday night, setting off a large manhunt in a South Los Angeles neighborhood.

The robbery occurred at 9:30 p.m. in the area of 70th and Figueroa streets, and was observed by officers, who chased the suspects, according to LAPD Sgt. Rudy Alaniz. The first suspect was quickly caught, but the second wasn’t captured until 11:45 p.m. after a K9 unit found him inside a home in the 400 block of West 67th St.

Officials would neither confirm nor deny reports that the victim was an undercover Los Angeles Police officer, and that one suspect was able to wrest away her gun. The men, both in their 20s, were accused of stealing the woman’s purse, Alaniz said.

The woman suffered bruises to her face and body, and was treated at the scene.
