A woman in her 60s died Saturday when she was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Laguna Hills, prompting a street closure near the scene, sheriff’s officials stated.

The fatal incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. near Paseo De Valencia and Kennington Drive (map), the Orange County Sheriff’s Department tweeted.

The bicyclist was a woman was in her 60s, and sheriff’s officials tweeted they were waiting until her family was notified to release her identity.

Laguna Hills Drive at Paseo De Valencia (map) was expected to be closed for two hours because of the incident, the sheriff’s department tweeted at 4:25 p.m.

Correction: The incident occurred near the border of Laguna Hills and Laguna Woods. The report initially stated the woman was hit on the Laguna Woods side, but Sheriff’s Department officials stated she was in fact struck in Laguna Hills.
