Kevin “Quincy” Williams, 32, died Friday following an incident at the Western Hair Lounge, located at 6522 S. Western Ave. (map), an LAPD spokesperson said.

Officers responded about 4:45 p.m. to the location in the Harvard Park neighborhood of South L.A., where two robbers had entered the business and demanded money, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Williams was struck in the upper torso when one of the robbers fired a single shot.

A private party transported Williams to a hospital, where he later died, police said.

A description of the robbers, who remained at large Saturday, was not immediately available.

Friends who attended the vigil said Williams had a reputation for often giving free haircuts and hosting free barbecues for children in the neighborhood.
