Inside a Firefighter’s 40-Pound Backpack

As firefighters continued to battle the Colby Fire on Thursday, KTLA reporter Chris Burrous took a peek at some of the equipment ground crews were using.

The firefighter’s pack weighed between 35 to 40 pounds and included water, strikers and flares. There was also a fluorescent red mat, which firefighters can use to signal an air strike against the fire.
