A woman allegedly seen on surveillance video throwing bottles at statues outside the Hoc Tich Buddhist Temple in Santa Ana has been arrested by police.

Trang Thu Pham, 45, was spotted at a CVS Drug store in Costa Mesa on Tuesday by a security officer who recognized her from news reports, according to a news release from the Santa Ana Police Department.

The security officer called Costa Mesa police who responded to the store and detained Pham, the release stated.

She was eventually turned over to Santa Ana police.

During an interview with detectives, Pham allegedly confirmed she was the woman caught on surveillance video throwing bottles at the statues outside the temple, the release stated.

The attacks occurred between Dec. 16, 2014 and Jan. 6, 2015.

She allegedly told detectives that she had no issues or problems with the Buddhist religion.

Detectives believed Pham committed the vandalism in response to a personal issue she had with someone associated with the temple.

Pham was booked on suspicion of felony vandalism of a place of worship.
