LADERA RANCH, Calif. (KTLA) — Police are searching for a man who attacked two boys at Ladera Ranch Elementary School.

Two 12-year-olds were playing near the school around 7:30 Sunday night when they were approached by a man with a knife.

One of the boys managed to run away, but the suspect grabbed the other boy.

Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, said the attacker “produced a knife with a three or four-inch blade, ordered the victim to take his pants off, the victim complied.”

The boy, who was dragged 10 to 15 feet by the suspect, was then told to take off his underwear.

He picked up some nearby wood chips and threw them at the suspect’s face before running to the street.

“We have a 12-year-old boy in his underwear running in traffic trying to desperately wave down a passing motorist,” Amormino said.

A driver saw the boy, stopped and called police.

The suspect, described as being in his 20s,  fled the scene.

The boys told authorities the man was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, sandals and a red bandana to cover his face.

Anyone with information is asked to contact sheriff’s officials at 714-628-7170.
