Beloved morning news anchor Michaela Pereira said goodbye to her KTLA family Thursday as she prepared for a new chapter in her life.

After nine years on the KTLA Morning News, Michaela is moving to New York to bring her expertise to CNN.

Michaela, we couldn’t be more excited for you.

The following is a transcript of Michaela’s goodbye speech:

Thank you for putting up with the longest goodbye ever. Those video tributes were more than a girl deserves.

Thank you.

Thank you for choosing us in the morning, for embracing me as part of the legendary KTLA Morning News team, for inviting me into your communities, asking me to speak at your lunches, marshal your parades and hug your children. You made this small-town kid feel right at home in the big city.

You made me a Clipper fan, forgave my support of the Giants. You made me fall in love with In-N-Out burgers, smooth jazz and classic cars.

I’ve been overwhelmed by your heart, on the street, in your emails, your hand-written letters, your Facebook posts and tweets.

You have shared your heart with me — whether it’s a mom who wants me to know that her daughter has the same hair as I do and feels good that there is someone on TV that looks like her, or a young man who is in search of his birth father — a voyage I know all too well — your stories that connect your heart to mine have been such a treasure.

Thank you for that.

These people here, they know the great secret I know, and I am going to let you in on it.

It is an honor and a privilege for us to start your day off on the right tone. What we get to do every morning: you invite us in and let us begin your day — hopefully on the right foot.

This crazy cast of characters.

This is a special place.

A station of firsts. A station of record. The station of Larry McCormick, Stan Chambers and Hal Fishman.

The smart guys in charge here know that, too. It’s a very special place, and it has been my honor to be a part of it for nine years.

Sammy, you are an infinite optimist, always in good humor, often the focal point of our teasing but always take it in good fun. One of the best writers I know and such a great and indulgent daddy. Despite the reputation we have given you, you have been generous to all of us. I have been a benefactor to your great kindness. Baby, I’ll be your carpool dummy anytime.

Franky — aka “F. J. Buckley,” aka “The Commander,” aka “Old-Man Buckley,” aka “Soul Kid No. 1” — you, Frank, have made me a better journalist. It has been a sheer delight to anchor this show with you. We’ve had tough stories, tough days, heart-breaking days – one’s that wrench our hearts out. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have been beside and nobody can boogie like you, my man.

And my Mark. I almost can’t put into words what you have meant to me. A long way from Cape Breton Island and 100-mile house, isn’t it? And you have always reminded me of that, never letting me forget who I am and where I came from. Without fail, you have made me laugh every day at work, every day — even when you aren’t here. Thank you for making the workplace joyful. Thank you for having my back.

Jessica Holmes, this little bit here: huge talent, bright star, sanity in my world. We have cried together, prayed together, shared an adult beverage together and best of all, laughed together. Be brave. Be bold. You already handle these boys deftly. Atta girl.

Gayle, Auntie Gayle, no words for you big sister. We don’t need words.

Allie, we’ll do that offline.

Lynette, Spillman, Ginger, Mark Kono: love, always love.

Kelly, my sister.

Our amazing producing staff: Nick, Kalina, Roxanne, our writers, our crew, our engineers, tech support – oh, tech support, I adore you. From the guard gate to the executive wing, I admire each and every one of you, and for making me proud to work here.

I do not believe in goodbyes. This heart of mine is big. I can fit you all in this little, brown, Canadian heart.

Thank you.

Thank you.
