A Michigan high school student with cerebral palsy said she would never have graduated without the help of her dog, so she planned to take him to the ceremony on June 2.

Walton, a 6-year-old golden retriever, helped Desi walk and keep her balance during her four years at Freedom Christian School.

“It seems like such a long time, I don’t even know what I did before I had him,” Desi said. “I don’t even know how I functioned.”

Now Walton will don the same cap and gown as the rest of the 2014 graduating class.

After graduating Desi hoped to work at an animal rescue or shelter.
