Los Angeles County firefighters battled a 20 to-25-acre brush fire off the 5 Freeway near Castaic on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The blaze was off the 5 Freeway at Lake Hughes Road, sheriff’s officials said. As of 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the fire was 75 percent contained.
Approximately 35 firefighters were at the scene and three were transported to a local hospital for heat exhaustion and a shoulder injury, according to fire officials.
The fire was in light to medium brush, the Department said.
All northbound lanes on the freeway reopened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday after being closed for about three hours, fire officials added.
Los Angeles County Fire Department helicopters assisted firefighters on the ground, fire officials said in a tweet.
Officials said three firefighters have been injured.
