Three people were taken into custody after a failed carjacking and short pursuit in Hialeah, Florida Monday night.

Surveillance video from a Tom Thumb gas station showed two people running, apparently with guns drawn, toward an SUV and a red convertible.

The driver of the SUV locked her doors and managed to keep the attempted carjacker out.

However, the other suspect could be seen in the video getting into the driver’s side door of the red convertible.

Before the would-be carjacker could close the door, a woman is seen in the video reaching in and pulling the person out of the car.

“She’s able to drag him out of the car while the other one on the other side runs away like a coward,” Sgt. Carl Zogby of the Hialeah Police Department told local TV station WPLG.

The 21-year-old woman’s two children were inside the car at the time, the station reported.

“Little did they know this was a mom, and she wasn’t going to let that car be taken,” Zogby said.

Video showed both attempted carjackers fleeing the gas station in the same direction they arrived.

The two suspects, along with a third person, were taken into custody a short time later following a pursuit, WPLG reported.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez, 17, and Nicholas Rosado, 19, were stopped in a vehicle driven by Rebecca Utria, 21, according to the report.

The three faced charges of attempted armed carjacking and eluding police.
