A Brooklyn, New York, teenager lost his arm in a Craigslist robbery gone wrong on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Police say the 17-year-old boy connected with a man on Craigslist who was selling a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.  They met about 1 p.m. in the Canarsie neighborhood, where the teen got into the seller’s SUV and pulled out a gun, police said. The teen stole the sneakers and then walked away.

He walked across the street with a bag apparently holding the sneakers, and the theft victim made a U-turn, stepped on the gas and ran over the teenager, pinning him against a metal fence and severing his arm, police told WPIX.

Surveillance video obtained by WABC showed the Honda Pilot striking the teen, whom the station identified as 17-year-old Zachary Sam.

The teen, with his armed severed, managed to jump on a nearby bus, where he demanded a fare card. Just then, the victim yanked the teenager off the bus and told the driver the boy had robbed him.

Bus passengers were horrified by the scene, WABC reported.

The teen escaped again and ran home, where he collapsed, police said.

An ambulance took the boy — and his severed arm — to a nearby hospital.  The teen is in serious but stable condition. It was not immediately clear whether doctors were attempting to reattach his arm.
