A man working on a manhole in Portland, Oregon, was run over by the driver of a pick-up and it was all caught on surveillance video.

Travis Roberts thought he had taken the proper precautions to protect himself, such as setting up orange cones around the manhole and using his own truck to block traffic, he told TV station KOIN in Portland.

But the driver of the pick-up still managed to squeeze through and hit Roberts, the station reported.

The young father suffered a fractured rib and road rash, but told KOIN he was relieved his injuries were not a lot worse.

“Just amazed, I’m sitting here alive and not worse off, not paralyzed,” Roberts told the station. “I get to come home and see my wife and kids.”

The driver was not cited because the accident happened on private property, the station reported.

KOIN and CNN contributed to this story.
