The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office released this booking photo of Jacob Pauda.

Jacob Pauda, 30, was booked into a Lubbock County jail on Feb. 10 on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft and deadly conduct, inmate records showed.

His arrest followed an incident that started Feb. 8, when he took the woman to his residence in Lubbock.  Pauda asked his girlfriend if she had cheated on him, and questioned whether the child was his, Lubbock television station KCBD reported.

The woman denied the accusation, but Pauda allegedly ran toward her at that point and began punching the victim’s face, according to the station, which cited a police report.

He eventually stopped and grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen, then allegedly chased his girlfriend around the living room while holding the sharp object, authorities said in the report. After dropping the knife, Pauda was accused of slamming his girlfriend against several metal objects as she tried to call her mother.

The suspect then took his two sons — who were in other rooms at the time — and left before officers arrived at the home, according to the station. His girlfriend was treated for injuries.

The victim later told police that Pauda used cocaine, and that her boyfriend allegedly admitted to taking drugs prior to the attack, KCBD reported.

Two days later, Pauda was arrested and booked into jail, according to inmate records.

He was indicted by a Lubbock grand jury, KCBD reported on Wednesday.
