White House, Senators Launching Immigration Push

Musical chairs at the white house today.

Jack Lew was the 1st term Chief of Staff, but the administrations 2nd term Chief of Staff will be the Denis McDonough.

Lew, pending confirmation is transitioning to a cabinet position,  Secretary of the treasury, replacing Timothy Geithner.

The president also meeting today with leaders of the congressional Hispanic Caucus discussing how to fix the immigration system.

“The president’s commitment to comprehensive immigration reform has been clear for a very long time, “ Jay Carney White House Press Secretary.

But critics complain, the president waited a very long time to deal on immigration reform.

The president did order the Dream Act amnesty for the children brought here illegally by their families last summer, but true reform was not part of his 1st term agenda, as promised.

“What has been absent in the time since he put those principles forward has been a willingness by republicans , generally speaking to move forward with comprehensive immigration reform,” Carney said.

Led by Senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas, republicans are moving to get ahead of the president on the immigration issue.

November was their parties wake up call.

71% of Latinos voted to re-elect President Obama over GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
