A sound producer has posted the story of how he created the iPhone’s now iconic “Tri-Tone” alert sound. Apparently it was for an CD to MP3 ripping program back in 1990’s.

ZocDoc has analyzed millions of appointments and come up with the best and worst days and times to see a doctor:

For all docs, regardless of their specialty, ZocDoc found that:

  • Most popular day to see the doctor: Tuesday
  • Most popular appointment slots, overall: Friday at 10 am and Monday at 2 pm (Weekdays at 10 am and 2 pm are the most popular time slots across the board, so be flexible and willing to book outside those times if you’re looking to get an appointment quickly, ZocDoc’s experts advise.)
  • Shortest in-office wait times, on average: Monday
  • Longest in-office wait times, on average: Thursday

For specialists, ZocDoc found that:

  • Most popular day and times to see the ob/gyn: Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am, 10 am and 2 pm (Fun fact: Women book their ob/gyn appointments on ZocDoc an average of three days in advance. “How?” is my question — mine is never available that soon!)
  • Most popular time slot for dermatologists and podiatrists: 10 am
  • Most popular time slots for sports medicine doctors: 2, 3, and 4 pm
  • Most popular time slot for orthopedic surgeons: 9 am
