BOYLE HEIGHTS, Calif. (KTLA) — Los Angeles Police Monday asked for the public’s help in identifying additional victims of an accused child molester, who worked at a daycare in Boyle Heights.

daycare-suspectPolice arrested Enrique Ramos, 45, Thursday and booked him on three counts of lewd acts on a child.

Ramos is accused of molesting three of the children whom he cared for at Cano & Ramos Child Care Center on Pennsylvania Avenue in Boyle Heights. Ramos is a co-owner of the facility.

The center was closed Monday, as the investigation continued.

Two of the known victims were 5-years old and the other was 8. One of the 5-year-old victims apparently expressed concern to her mother about returning to the daycare. The mother then contacted the police.

“This involved a gentleman by the name of Mr. Ramos, who has been identified as a person who has assaulted young, minor females. We are under the assumption and belief that there may be other victims, either in the Hollenbeck area or the City of Los Angeles, who he may have assaulted as well,” said Captain Anita Ortega of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The day care center was opened in 2002 and police believe that hundreds of children could have passed through it over the years.

“We are asking for any child, who was a victim of Mr. Ramos to please come forward and report any incidents to their parents, teachers or persons of trust,” said LAPD Detective Steven Juarez.

The 5-year-old and 8-year-old victims apparently made complaints about Ramos back in 2008, but there was insufficient evidence to pursue a case at that time, police said.
