Governor Gavin Newsom signed a $6.6 billion plan that will offer financial incentives to districts that open schools for in-person learning.
Schools must open some grades by April 1 to get the maximum amount of funding. If districts open after May 15, they will get no extra funding.
While the plan had overwhelming support from California legislators, some lawmakers expressed concerns.
