Support is growing for an online petition to allow guns inside Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention.
By Friday morning, More than 10,000 people have signed the Change.org petition since it was started two days earlier .
Quicken Loans Arena, the location of many RNC events, does not allow firearms or any other weapons on its premises, according to WJW.
The petition said the policy is “a direct affront to the Second Amendment” and “puts all attendees at risk.” It also calls Cleveland one of the most dangerous cities in the United States, citing an October 2015 Forbes article.
The petition is asking the arena, also known as “The Q,” to suspend its policy, GOP president candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to use executive authority, and the Republican National Committee to explain “how a venue so unfriendly to Second Amendment rights was chosen for the Republican Convention.”
The RNC is July 18 to July 21.
