LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — A robbery suspect was shot and wounded by police in the skid row area Wednesday morning, officials said.

It happened around 9 a.m. at the Green Apple Market at 5th and Wall Streets.

It happened after officers spotted an armed man appearing to walk backwards out of the store, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Multiple officers fired their weapons, according to the Times. It wasn’t clear exactly how many officers fired or how many shots were fired.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the suspect, who was taken to a hospital.

No officers were injured. Sky5 was overhead as several people were detained by police at the scene.
