Robbery Suspect Shot, Killed by LAPD on Skid Row

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — A robbery suspect was shot and killed by police in the skid row area Wednesday morning, officials said.

It happened around 9 a.m. at the Green Apple Market at 5th and Wall Streets.

Sgt. Rudy Lopez of the LAPD said an undercover officer observed the suspect inside the liquor store with a gun in his hand.

The officer believed a robbery was in progress and followed the suspect outside the store where an shooting occurred, according to Lopez.

The suspect continued to run eastbound on 5th street until he encountered multiple officers and a second shooting took place, Lopez said.

It wasn’t clear exactly how many officers fired or how many shots were fired.

The suspect died from his wounds.

None of the officers were injured.

Sky5 was overhead as several people were detained by police at the scene.
