A search was underway Monday for the gunman who shot and killed a man in a Norwalk parking lot, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 11:00 p.m. Sunday night in the 12500 block of Rosecrans Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, described as a 32-year-old man, was killed as he sat in the front seat of his car, the Sheriff’s Department said.

People in the area flagged down deputies from the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station after they heard shots being fired.

The victim’s vehicle, parked near a liquor store, was still running when paramedics arrived a short time later, witnesses said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Investigators planned to sift through surveillance footage from area businesses in their search for clues.
