Sun Valley Church Usher Charged With Sexually Abusing 4 Boys

SUN VALLEY, Calif. (KTLA) — A Sun Valley church usher was charged on Wednesday with multiple felony counts of child sex abuse for allegedly assaulting four boys, officials said.

Marcelo Lozano, 34, is facing nine felony counts, including two counts each of aggravated sexual assault of a child, continuous sexual abuse and oral copulation of a person under 14.

He is also charged with one count each of forcible lewd act upon a child, lewd act upon a child and sodomy of a person under 14 with 10 years difference.

The criminal complaint includes a special allegation of multiple victims.

Lozano met the alleged victims through Jehovah’s Witness, Sun Valley Spanish Congregation, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The alleged crimes occurred between Jan. 1, 2006 and June 30, 2013.

At the time of the alleged offenses, the victims ranged in age from 8 to 15 years old, prosecutors said.

Lozano pleaded not guilty to all the charges during an arraignment on Wednesday.

He remained behind bars on $1.8 million bail. If convicted as charged, Lozano faces a maximum term of life in state prison.

The case remained under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
