PASADENA, Calif. (KTLA) – More than 3,000 people took part in the Pasadena Half Marathon on Sunday, despite the continuing heat wave.

The race started at Pasadena City College with a half-marathon of more than 13 miles at 6:30 a.m., and was followed by a 5K and a 10K run.

Because of the weather, organizers posted a heat advisory on the race website.

“We will be ready for the warm weather with extra water and iced towels at the support stations, but please prepare yourself for it as well,” the advisory said.

The temperature in Pasadena was expected to climb to 104 degrees by midday.
