Santa Anita Park Opening Day Comes After Another Race Track Closes

Santa Anita Park opened on Thursday morning just days after Hollywood Park closed for good.

Opening day at the race track started an expanded two-month schedule extending the winter and spring seasons through June 29.

This is the 77th year that horse racing has been held at the track, which is located in Arcadia.

Santa Anita has spent roughly $20 million in the past nine months to make improvements to the facility, according to spokesman Mike Willman
