A week after the deadly Monterey Park massacre killed 11 people and wounded nine others, youth activists are calling for gun safety law reforms on Saturday.

Activists held a rally called “March for Our Lives” in downtown Los Angeles to honor the victims of the shooting while demanding the strengthening of gun laws.

Seven people were shot, at least three of them fatally, in the Beverly Crest neighborhood on Saturday morning.

The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. at a short-term rental home in the 2700 block of Ellison Drive, north of Beverly Hills, said police.

Protestors gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday calling for police reform after videos were released showing the violent arrest of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols. Similar scenes of protest played out across the country this weekend.

Nichols is a Memphis man who died three days after he was beaten by police during a traffic stop on Jan. 7.

Authorities pursued a vehicle in Los Angeles County on Friday night.

The driver was wanted for reckless driving, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Sky5 was overhead.

Police say a man has been arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap a girl who was walking home from middle school in Riverside County.

The victim, a 12-year-old girl, was walking home from Sunnymead Middle School when the attempted kidnapping took place. The incident has left parents shaken and concerned for their children's safety.
