Paul Luna beams with pride as he remembers his vibrant 17-year-old son Anthony. "He was just a joker," Paul said. "For people who met him, who had the opportunity to meet him, that was the No. 1 thing."

Anthony died last Saturday night after he fell from the 6th Street Viaduct around 2 a.m.

What was supposed to be a fun evening out with friends turned tragic when the high school senior and a group of his friends came to hang out on the multimillion-dollar overpass.

Paul says his son was climbing a fence along the bridge, when he slipped and fell. He was transported to the hospital, but was pronounced dead.

“It was literally just an accident,” said Paul. “He was out with his friends, having a good time, being a 17-year-old kid, getting ready to graduate and I couldn't be more proud [of him] as a father.”

Teachers are planning at least two protests after the Temecula Valley School Board in California voted to ban a new social studies curriculum over its inclusion of gay rights pioneer Harvey Milk.

The board president was heard during the meeting referring to Milk as a “pedophile.”

At Saticoy Elementary School in North Hollywood, controversy over a scheduled Pride event came to a head Friday morning when parents on both sides of the issue squared off in dueling demonstrations that turned violent.

Supporters and opponents of a Pride Month assembly gathered outside the school with city and school police stepping in to separate the sides.

Officers were on the scene to "facilitate a peaceful and lawful exercise of constitutional rights," the Los Angeles Police Department said on Twitter.

California’s ambitious and expensive plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from landfills may itself be headed for the trash heap.
