A tentative deal was reached Friday to end a labor dispute involving the Los Angeles Unified School District and tens of thousands of union workers who staged a three-day strike this week, the district announced.

The “historic” deal includes a 30% pay increase that Local 99 of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) had been seeking and a vast expansion of benefits including paid healthcare, retroactive pay, a minimum wage increase to $22.52 an hour and more.

A teen girl is hospitalized after allegedly being thrown to the ground by a sheriff’s deputy during a violent brawl at a San Bernardino County high school Friday night. Authorities responded to a large fight that erupted during a football game at Victor Valley High School around 6:28 p.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Video captured the violent confrontation as a deputy body slams the teen girl before another teen boy gets into a scuffle with deputies.

The Writers Guild of America is in the final phase of negotiations with Hollywood’s major studios and streaming services, according to reports.   An industry insider told Variety that the talks are “mainly down to language now” and that negotiations are in the "home stretch." 

According to Deadline, after a full day of negotiations between the WGA and AMPTP, the guild’s lawyers are reviewing what the studios call their “best and final offer.” Negotiation meetings between the sides have made considerable progress in recent weeks, which may be attributed to the presence of four top executives: Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav, Disney’s Bob Iger, NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley and Netflix’s Ted Sarandos.

A Cal State Northridge student’s documentary film led to the discovery of 10 half-siblings after she found out she was conceived using a sperm donor. The film, “#2276,” directed by student Sara Sims, 22, is now a finalist in the prestigious nationwide Student Academy Awards.

“My film “2276” is a story about me and my twin sister, Haley, finding out at age 17 that we, through an ancestry test, that we were donor conceived,” Sims explained. Sims set out to make a documentary about her roots and along the way, she learned much more than she could’ve ever imagined about her story.

Three men were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a SoCal teenager and holding him for ransom. The suspects allegedly caused a car crash involving the teen boy. As the boy exited his vehicle, the men grabbed him and forced him into their SUV, court documents said.
