Loved ones are mourning the sudden death of Orange County BMX star Pat Casey following a crash at a motocross competition in San Diego County on June 6.
The 29-year-old X Games medalist was known as a dedicated husband, a loving father of two and a talented athlete whose life was cut tragically short.
While competing in an X Games competition in Ramona, Pat missed a landing while performing a jump from a ramp, losing control of his bike before being ejected.
Bystanders called 911 but by the time paramedics arrived at the track, they found Pat pulseless and apneic, according to the medical examiner's office. Despite life-saving measures, Pat was pronounced dead at the scene.'

Joran van der Sloot, the chief suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway, arrived in the United States on Thursday to face charges that he attempted to extort money from the missing woman’s mother.
An FBI-operated plane carrying van der Sloot landed at Birmingham's Shuttlesworth Airport just before 2:30 p.m. and the suspect was escorted down the steps into a black SUV, which was to take him to a federal courthouse for a hearing.
Van der Sloot was extradited to the United States from Peru where he has been serving a 28-year sentence for the slaying of a Peruvian woman.

A construction worker who died after being crushed by a concrete wall in Pacoima was described by his family as a loving husband, father and “irreplaceable” grandfather of three.
Javier Calderon, 49, was killed in the accident Wednesday morning. The collapse was reported around 8:45 a.m. in the 10500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard.
Two people were initially trapped, and while one was able to get themselves out, the other remained trapped under cinder blocks, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Multiple firefighters tried to get the worker free, but he was pronounced dead at the scene around 10:30 a.m.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were in pursuit of a driver in a pickup truck suspected of driving recklessly and being intoxicated.
Police initiated the pursuit in the Santa Monica area with the suspect traveling westbound on the 10 Freeway before exiting at Lincoln Boulevard and eventually transitioning to the traffic-congested northbound 405 Freeway. ' As the pursuit continued, the driver exited at Burbank Boulevard, but continued straight to stay on the 405 Freeway.

San Clemente beaches will now close two hours early at 10 p.m. amid ongoing public safety concerns. The change was approved Tuesday and went into effect on Wednesday night. However, the rule won’t be enforced until signs are officially posted at the beach.
A unanimous city council vote approved the new rule following a May 26 assault involving three Marines being beaten by a crowd of teenagers at the San Clemente Pier.
The move addresses ongoing concerns over increasing public safety issues at the beach and nearby downtown areas. Officials also approved the hiring of more private security to patrol the beaches.
