Los Angeles authorities are asking for the public's help in finding the person who has allegedly killed at least three homeless people in different parts of the city. Temporary winter shelters have been set up amid the killings so unhoused individuals can sleep in a safe place.
The Los Angeles Police Department, Mayor Karen Bass, District Attorney George Gascón and federal officials gathered Friday afternoon to discuss the crimes for the first time.
From Nov. 26 through Nov. 29, three men have been found dead, all under similar circumstances, according to LAPD Chief Michel Moore. "A single individual approached each one and shot and killed each one as they slept," Moore said. Each of the three killings happened in the early morning, all before 5 a.m.

Retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court and who emerged as the swing vote on some of the court’s biggest cases, died Friday. She was 93. O’Connor died in Phoenix of “complications related to advanced dementia, probably Alzheimer’s, and a respiratory illness,” the court announced in a statement.
Just over a decade after she retired, O’Connor had announced in 2018 that she was withdrawing from public life after being diagnosed with dementia. Nominated by President Reagan in 1981, O’Connor became the first woman to serve on the nation’s highest bench.

Friday was U.S. Rep. George Santos’ last day. The New York Republican lawmaker faced an expulsion vote in the morning. It was quiet on the House floor, before House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) broke the silence.
"Two-thirds voting in the affirmative, the resolution is adopted," Johnson said. And with that, George Santos was removed from Congress, making him the sixth member ever expelled.
"It's historic, right? We've only ever expelled five or six members in the House's history and it's not something to be taken lightly. It's something I contemplated heavily throughout the last few months," U.S. Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) said.
